This Juvenile Sea Star log is intended to record sea star counts only (not disease observations). If you have specific observatons of sea star disease, please submit them here. To enter observations for more than one species, click "Submit" and then adjust the species and count information (in bold) for each species as necessary. If juvenile sea stars are observed, please also record the number of adults observed for reference. For more information please click here.
For all species of sea stars (except Pycnopodia helianthoides) numbers should be recorded as "juvenile" if they are less than 1 inch (25 millimeters) in diameter, or smaller than a U.S. Quarter (or Canadian Loonie). For P. helianthoides, numbers should be recorded as "juvenile" if they are less than 2 inches (50 millimeters) in diameter.
If you have photos to send along with your observations, please send them here.
